Le Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec (RGCQ) is in mourning following the death of François Taillefer on March 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. François left his mark on the RGCQ, the legal community and the general public through his dedication and expertise.
A native of Montreal, François has enjoyed a distinguished career as a judicial officer, arbitrator and civil and commercial mediator. His career at Paquette et associés and his term as president of the Chambre des huissiers de justice du Québec attest to his significant contribution to the legal profession.
An active member of the RGCQ Board of Directors from 2011 to 2023, François played an important role in supporting and defending the interests of directors, managers and co-owners in Quebec. His unwavering determination, even in the face of the most complex governance challenges, and his ability to inspire those around him have left a lasting mark on the RGCQ.
François has also distinguished himself as a columnist on the Condolegal.com website. His articles, focusing on the role of the bailiff in co-ownership, have been particularly appreciated by the general public for their ability to demystify the role of this officer of the court in a clear and accessible manner. His contribution to Condolegal has not only enriched our understanding of condominium law but has also served as an indispensable guide for those seeking to better understand the nuances of this field.
Me Yves Joli-Cœur, Chairman of the RGCQ Board of Directors, expresses a sentiment shared by many members and colleagues: "This loss has deeply affected and upset us. François was a man of conviction, whose exceptional strength of character and loyalty were a pillar for the RGCQ, especially in difficult times. His contribution was invaluable, leaving an immense emptiness among us."
The Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec extends its deepest condolences to all those affected by this loss. François Taillefer's departure marks the end of an era, but his legacy remains a guiding light for the future of the RGCQ.
Montréal, April 3rd 2024
