February 5, 2016 - Since January 1, 2016, the Commisssion des norms du travail( Labour Standards Commission) (CNT), the Commision de l’équité salariale ( Pay Equity Commission) (ETUC) and the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail ( Health and Safety in the Workplace Commission)(CSST) have been merged into a single entity, the Commission des normes , de l’équité, de la santé,et de la sécurité du travail.(Labor Standards , equity, health and safety in the Workplace Commission) (CNESST).
The Quebec government has entrusted to this organization "the promotion of the rights and obligations in the workplace. The CNESST ensures its compliance with Quebec workers and employers. "
The Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec (Association of managers and co- owners of Quebec) (RGCQ) reminds our readers that when a syndicate of co-owners hires a building contractor, it should take the necessary precautions as: if the contractor has not paid its annual assessments to the CNESST, and the Commission de la construction du Québec (Quebec Construction Board) (CCQ), the said syndicate may have to pay them on its behalf. Better to be aware to avoid possible complications.
