January 15, 2016 – The Garantie de construction résidentielle (residential construction Garanty.GCR) has recently appointed Daniel Laplante as its new CEO. He officially takes office on January 15, 2016. He succeeds Gina Gaudreault, who was the first person to hold this position since the creation of the GCR.
GCR offers a guarantee to house and condo buyers in the event a contractor fails to meet its legal or contractual obligations, and these defaults are covered by the Regulation respecting the guarantee plan for new residential buildings.
"The selection of the new CEO is the result of a rigorous selection process," said Jacques Leroux, Chairman of the Board of the GCR. Daniel Laplante’s mandate will be to work toward its development.
In terms of human resources, this manager has developed organizations by relying heavily on his teams. Trust, transparency and communication are, in his view, the fundamental factors allowing a team to achieve success, "added Jacques Leroux.
"I want to insure that GCR implements the best business practices in terms of service to its clients and risk management, while maintaining a good working relationship with construction contractors," said Daniel Laplante.
He holds a BA in Economics, and continued his education at the graduate level in finance. Over the last 25 years, he worked in the public sector and in associations, up to the level of GM. Over time, he gained extensive experience in strategic planning, operational management as well as in the development and positioning of organizations. Since 2010, he was CEO of the Association de l’industrie électrique du Québec (Quebec’s electrical industry association).
