Definition : Purchase inspection report

Written opinion issued by a building inspector, the purpose of which is to establish apparent defects in the maintenance or construction of a building (i.e. apparent defect) and to summarily assess the importance of any work to be carried out in the building. The pre-purchase inspection report should include at least the following information:

  • The names of the applicants for the report;
  • The date, time, climatic conditions and persons present at the time of the inspection;
  • A brief description of the condition of the various components inspected (e.g., roof, heating, windows, electricity, etc.) ;
