Definition : Impacts noise (structure-borne noise)

Noises that originate from the vibration of the structure of the building (floors or walls). These manifestations usually emanate from residential units located on an upper floor, when objects fall on the floor, move furniture, or due to the comings and goings of a person (footsteps). To counter the effects of impact noise, declarations of co-ownership usually contain standards to be respected when installing or replacing floor coverings (installation of a membrane, inspection by a professional, acoustic test, etc.).
