Definition : Gradual damage

Damage to the property that happens gradually over time. It can be caused by normal wear and tear of the property or the gradual deterioration of the property. Damage to property caused by wear, gradual or intermittent deterioration, rust, corrosion, moisture, excessive temperatures, dry or wet rot, fungi or spores are usually not covered by the insurer unless they are directly caused by a covered loss (e.g., fire).
