Definition : Co-ownership Advisory Committee

Non-decision-making committee, set up in 2012 by the Chambre des notaires du Québec, with the approval of the then Minister of Justice Jean-Marc Fournier.  Made up of Quebec lawyers specializing in divided co-ownership and other stakeholders in the field, the mandate of the Advisory Committee on Co-ownership was to consult the public and the main stakeholders in the co-ownership sector in order to validate or not the recommendations of the report Co-ownership Working Group. The committee was also mandated to verify that no significant issues had been omitted from the first report. On November 7, 2012, the Advisory Committee produced its report, which was the basis for the legislative changes in co-ownership made by Bill 141 in 2018 and Bill 16 in 2019.
