Definition : Building inspector (pre-purchase)

A natural person holding a certificate issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) whose mandate is to carry out a visual examination of the physical condition of the easily accessible systems and components of a building (for example: structure, plumbing, electricity, heating, roof, attic, foundations, etc.) and to identify defects (apparent defect) that affect it and that may reduce its use or value or that present a risk to the safety of the occupants. The result of its inspection report is presented in a written document called the « Pre-Purchase Inspection Report ».
