Definition : Notice of preservation

Legal document used to notify, through service, the owner of a property that a legal hypothec of construction has been filed on their property. This lien is established to ensure the payment of amounts owed to individuals who participated in the construction or renovation of the property (architect, engineer, material supplier, worker, contractor, or subcontractor). The notice of preservation designates the encumbered property and indicates the amount of the claim. It must be filed before the expiration of the stipulated period, within 30 days following the completion of the work.
