A solid fuel heater installed in a house or apartment for making fires. Most cities have regulations to regulate wood heating. Thus, the city of Montreal has adopted a by-law stating that wood fireplaces or stoves must not emit more than 2.5 g/h of fine particles. It is also provided that in case of smog, no solid fuel appliances may be used, under penalty of fine, even certified appliances.
