Definition : Cadastral renovation

An operation enabling the Minister responsible for the cadastre to prepare a cadastral renewal plan for a territory when he is of opinion that the parcelling out of the territory or the changes made to that parcelling out require it. In 1994, the Government of Quebec began a reform of its cadastral register, which had become incomplete and imperfect since its creation in 1860. The purpose of the cadastral renovation was to create a single cadastre for the entire territory of Québec and to produce the plan of the cadastre of Québec in electronic version. Thus, the old cadastres of parishes, cantons, municipalities and districts have been replaced by a single cadastre.
